Ch22: Family Matters

Yggdra
"My name is Yggdra Melissa Guy, but you already know that. I come from an alternate timeline, to warn you and the rest of your friends about the incoming dangers ahead. Getting here was hard enough, but I'll get to that eventually.

In my world, I honestly don't have many memories from my childhood, due to the face that I had fallen into a coma at a young age. I was told that it was due to a terrorist attack. The only real memories are about my mother, and the stories that progressively followed. I awoke several years later, orphaned and alone. That's where I met Charlie."

That takes a moment to think. "Charlie? As in, our Charlie?" I nod my head. "TTL was very successful, and the cast, including Anna, lived prosperous and happy, from what I've been told." Anna blushes a bit, and That puts a finger to his chin. "So, I guess Charlie told you everything you know?" I grin back at him. "Looks like you do have some common sense in there." Anna cracks a grin in response. As we all smile, I go back to my explanation. "He taught me everything that I know today, from weapon control, to proper English, to the history of TTL." Anna nods in contempt. "He's always been on top of his game. Even in alternate universes, he's hardworking like always..." I smile at his high praise. "He took me in, gave me the home that I didn't have, and treated me like his own daughter." My head lowers, and I change my tone. "Up until his death." The two in front of me stand quietly. Neither of which has a response. "Yggdra..." Anna softly says, but I wave off her apology. "I already know about what happened here. There was nothing you could have done about it, or what I could've done. We just have to move on.

Charlie died protecting me. He was the last one I saw die before making my way here. I came via time travel." I smirk and raise my head to the two, seeing if they would catch on. That is the first one to answer. "Season 9, right?" "Bingo." Anna gasps and starts to aimlessly wave her head around. "Not the time travel... we went to so many places... many of which ended in unnecessary and uncalled for death..." I lower my head again. "Well, this is no different. You just have to accept it and move on.

I had to grow up quickly considering that I had lost many years, and practically my childhood while in the coma. I was inducted into the resistance, who called themselves The Inheritors. Led by Charlie himself, we were up against an innumerable enemy. Another familiar face, or faces, you should know from Season 9.

Does the Justinpocalypse ring a bell to you?"

"Not that! Anything but that!" Says the guy, who quivers in fear at the slight mention of that one word. Anna stares off into space now, as if recalling even more repressed memories. "The Justinpocalypse..." She says, trailing off. "An alternate universe where it was just clone after clone of Justin... Who all banded together to take over the world..." I sigh in response. "Precisely." I step forwards and take my ground. "It's the reason why I'm here. It's back again, and with a flaming, well-calculated vengeance.

"Let's go back to Justin real quick. He's how this whole incident started. Like I mentioned before, TTL was super successful. Justin took his share of the fame and fortune, and spent most of it to charity organizations. He lived a good life, and would've continued to impact the world for good, if not for one eventful day. While giving out a speech to the general public, he was shot dead. Assassinated. Shot directly in the heart, he died instantaneously, on the spot. The perpetrator was never found, yet 'TG' decided to investigate. Next day, TG goes missing. All communication with him ceases. Not even a single trace of him was found at the crime scene. That raises his hand to speak once again, which I permit. "TG IS my nickname. Easier than That, all the time." I nod my head. "I didn't understand it at first, but after catching on, I still had to proceed with my mission. I couldn't let it get in my way. I had to get you away from mother, for better or for worse." That snickers back. "Glad to see that you're a merciful kid." I smile back, and take a moment to catch my breath.

"After TG, Tim was the next one found to be dead. His body after autopsy was ruled to be dead weeks ago, but nobody suspected that he died, considering that he was found at his job, 100,000 Ways to Not Live. Charlie then started getting suspicious. He called Esther, but she didn't pick up. Never one to miss a call, he then called Anna, and that's when the next disaster struck.

          "Anna. We need to talk."
            "Eh? Charlie?"
"Look, you probably know the news. I need you out of your house in the forest, and moved to somewhere safer."
"W-wait! Do you know anything about That?! And w-what about Yggdra?!"
"TG is completely off the grid, and Esther hasn't picked up either. You're not safe."
                  "B-but... I need some time..."
"Anna, they're going for you next. The rest of the cast is either dead or gone. Get out of there! I can't risk another friend dying."
                    "A-alright... i-if you say so-BOOM!

From what Charlie told me, there was a blast, and then static. No response. I was supposedly found alive in the rubble, but unconscious. Anna had died in the attack. A hit a run. While still alive, I was unresponsive, stuck in a coma. Things started to spiral out of control from there on. Word got out, so Charlie went into hiding. He and Announcer got safely, and soon tried to take control of the situation themselves, after attempts to make them come out soon turned lethal to the public. They formed a resistance team, that soon turned into an army, that soon turned into a war. I got involved, whether I liked it or not, and now here I am. Here to save you guys."

Anna gulps her breath, and That scratches his head. "Save US? Then why were you so prejudiced against me in the beginning?! I'm your father and all!" I stare at him intently. "Because."
"Because we though that you were the cause of our problems."

"Charlie may have been the leader, but he did his own work, and carried his own weight. He knew Justin the best from working so closely with him, and so carried out many bold strategies and plans against the horde. One big turning point was a cover ops mission for any resources at Justin's house. We found two main items of importance. The first thing that we found was the key chain. It had his car keys and other stuff, but it has had the activation remote to his time machine. The one thing that could help us turn the tide. Keep in mind that while we were strong, they still outnumbered us all. It was too much for all of us to handle, so our grip was slowly loosening. We needed whatever we could get in this time. The second piece of info was a self-written, long overdue will. Justin had known his time was coming, so he planned well ahead and wrote his final wishes. The main point of interest in the will was how he practically blamed That Guy for it, yet still wished him a happy life, as the curtain closed on him. We concluded that his disappearance had something to do with Justin, which lead to his eventual death. Charlie concluded that TG disappearance since it would ruin his public status if the will was ever brought up, but quickly dismissed it for something darker and more convoluted. Either way, we had a lead, and knew that it was a chain reaction. If we found out what happened to TG, and possibly stopped whatever he did or didn't do to Justin, then the whole crisis could've been averted. With the time machine in hand, the answer to our predicament was obvious.

I had to go and stop you, even if it meant for me to kill my own father."

That takes a heavy breath, with Anna once more staring off in utter disbelief. With no reply, I continued on.

"The discovery of Justin's mementos was the last high that the resistance ever got. The situation continued to deteriorate. More battles were being lost than one, and our numbers were being steadily reduced over time. Then, something unexpected happened to us. The enemy took the fight to our main headquarters. We were decimated, and the troops were too scattered to mount a counter-offensive. The situation continued to grow more and more hopeless. Friends and familiar faces were dead, or dying. I lost Charlie in my last moments there, and I couldn't do anything about it but escape. I prayed for a miracle to happen after traveling, and then, if by Lady Luck herself, I ended up here. I woke up in an airport, and by the time I figured out where I was, I saw you and Esther." I say, pointing my direction towards Anna. Her eyes widen at the mentioning of her name.

"Y-you were the little girl I saw at the airport?" She shyly asks, inspecting my figure. I myself look at my own body, which is more fit of a teenager than a kid. "The space time continuum took a bit to fully register my age, considering how far back I traveled. So I must have looked like how I did before falling into a coma. Either way, I saw you guys, and took the opportunity to tag one of Esther's chickens. Because of that, I was able to track you guys from a reasonable enough distance. The whole time, whatever you guys did, I was watching. Waiting for the perfect moment to reveal myself and assist you guys. As you can kinda tell, it didn't go the way I wanted it to, but nevertheless, it could've been worse."

I take a sigh of relief, knowing that my explanation should be adequate enough for now. The two in front of me stand quietly. That is shifting his eves around, probably trying to make sense of everything that I just explained. Meanwhile, Anna looks up to the sky, wordlessly zoned out from the reality that we live in.
"Is there anything else you need to know? Just ask your daughter."
