Ch23: A Gathering of Hearts

That Guy
"All that I ask of you, is to never leave us again. I mean, how long were you alone?! Days? Weeks? Months?" I stare into her eyes carefully, examining every last fine detail that she takes in. She avoids eye contact with me, and stares off into the distance. "I had to grow up quickly, WITHOUT parents, to start." She pivots back to me, flashing a face of disgust. "Do you yourself even know how hard it is, having to go through my life without parents who would care for me?! The only person I ever had was Charlie, and even then, he's gone as well! I had to be alone! I had no choice! I had gone for weeks, following you guys without any outside assistance!" Her dark green eyes start to tear up in regret, getting me closer to my goal. "I-I-I-I..." Her stuttering starts speeding up, until she finally breaks down into tears.
"I tried! I really tried my best to do it all on my own!"

She falls to the ground, her mien entirely changed. Crying next to the gun she dropped, going from an iron will and strong resolve to a measly, powerless child. Anna gasps and hurriedly runs over to her, sliding up right next to her side. "You don't have to bash her about it!" She angrily shouts. I just shrug my shoulders in discontent. "All that I'm trying to do, is to let her open up to us." Anna growls at me before going back to caring for our daughter. Nothing out of the normal here. "Geez... you're still such an idiot, you know that?" She declares, to which I happily agree. "We have to work TOGETHER, if you didn't pick up on it before! So we, and specifically YOU, have to learn to trust! How could we work together, if you won't even reveal why you're bullying..." She trails off at this statement, her cheeks already flushing to a different shade. I motion with my hands for her to go on, which slightly annoys her. "...our... daughter..." Yggdra seems to be provoked by this statement, and puts a hand on Anna's shoulder for support. "I-I'm fine..." She squeaks. "I just... had the pressure of both worlds on my back... so I need to be strong. I needed to not look back on the past, and only concern myself with what I can change... I had to do it... I had to..." She starts to tear up again in spite of her resolve so far. "I wanted to prove myself... I wanted to be able to save my friends... I just wanted to be with my parents again... I just wanted to be with them... but I had to grow up. I was forced into a war that I didn't want to be in... my friends were killed because of that... and there was little to no choice for me to make... There was nothing left..." She puts her hands over her face in shame and cries into them. Anna wraps her arms around her in a warm embrace. "Shhh..." She soothingly says. "You're with us now... you can rest easy... there's no need to be upset." She closes her eyes and lets out a faint smile. "I'm here for you, and your father is too." I take pride that statement, and walk over to the pair. "Yeah. I'm not going to disappear on you this time, hun." I glance to Anna, who wordlessly stares back. "We'll make it together. All of us." I proclaim, suddenly taking Anna to my side. The action makes her face turn bright red. She seems embarrassed by this action, yet doesn't take any action to stop me. I feel slightly comforted by this fact. "Y-yeah... All of us... together..." She says, dimming her voice down to a whisper.
           *Zing!*

A sudden gunshot is heard, along with the sound of a nearby tree falling. Yggdra and Anna immediately spring into action, with Yggdra taking her gun back up. Posting up on either side of me, they hunker down for the next volley. "Show yourselves! I'm not afraid to use force! Or this gun!" Yggdra yells. Another shot rings out, but it's even farther from us now. Anna draws her bow, and gets into firing stance, but the rustling of leaves nearby discourages her from moving again. A figure bolts out of the shrubery, walking out in the open and revealing themselves.
"Well well well. Danger Stranger."

Anna
Justin walks up to us, unfazed by our threats. I slowly retract my arms after seeing him, knowing that he wouldn't shoot without no reason. Yggdra, however, keeps her guard up. "I should've known that you two would be together..." He says, tinkering with his weapon. "What I didn't expect, was that another guest would be joining us here, uninvited." Yggdra stands her ground, her finger resting on the trigger. "I may be uninvited, but it's all for the necessary reasons." Justin then smiles back. "Catering to me already? A plethora of necessary reasons? And I thought that my case had to be justified." A rustling is heard in the same bushes that Justin came from. "Do we have room for one more?" With that statement, another person jumps out, revealing Tim.

"I finally found you two! Why did you have to run out so far to make out, when you can just freaking get a room?!" He lashes out, a lack of breath obvious from his tone and how he pants. He had to run straight from town, following Justin at a moment's notice. That looks uneasily at him. "How did you guys even find us, though?" I blush at the fact that he still wants us together, but seeing the revelations made clear minutes ago, I have no choice but to accept the facts and go along with it. "I have tracking." Justin bluntly states. "I didn't want to lose anyone this time around, either in the sense of death, or literally losing them, so it was the logical solution to use tracking via satellites and GPS!" My blood starts to boil, but I restrain myself from letting it all out. "Why didn't you tell us earlier?! It would've help, a LOT!" He snaps his fingers at me in response.
Uh-uh. I can't reveal everything that I do. Where's your sense of adventure?" He laughs to himself sarcastically, before turning his attention to Yggdra. "And I can say the same for you." Tim, still exhausted, strikes the back of Justin's head with his hand. "Since when have you told us ANYTHING from the start?! Or anything TRUE as a matter of fact!" Justin doesn't answer, and just raises his head to the sky.

"Announcer!"
Yo. Whaddya need now?
"Find a section in the script where I told the truth."
Seriously? The script?
"Yeah. Is that a problem?"
Yes it is. You're still the only one with a script! We already had this conversation a whole arc ago!
"Then why don't you buy one for yourself? They're pretty cheap."
You barely pay us at all! I STILL can't afford pen OR paper!
"D****t!"
Well, add more money to the fund for every bleep.
"Fudge! Forget it!"

Justin turns back to us, his hands on his head in frustration. "This doesn't prove anything!" He shouts, fuming in anger. All of us sigh in return. "Justin, I need not reveal myself until now. I can now be fully honest." I hold my breath as he raises his firearm once more. "This wasn't part of the plan. My plan might already be in shambles, but it didn't stray as far as THIS." He drops his gun in a sudden motion, and grips his head. "These... uncertain variables always go for the worst with me." That and I stand together, and dash to Yggdra's protection, who shows no sign of fear in her eyes. "No way you're hurting her! You'll have to get through us both!" He yells. I stand steady right beside him, but Yggdra aimlessly pushes us aside, walking up and confronting Justin, face to face.

"I can hold my own, because of the horrors I've seen. My purpose in life, is to save your lives."

"A trustworthy alibi enough, already backed up by your newfound friends. Now, tell me. Why do they already trust you so much? Told something big? So big, they'd risk their lives for you?"

"It's not because I'm from the future, but because I'm their daughter."
